Programs
Our programs at California State University, Los Angeles for graduate and undergraduate students in the sciences and engineering fields are offered to students who are interested in research in the broad field of energy and sustainability. Students will work with faculty in various fields, including chemistry, biology, geography, physics, civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering, computer science and technology to conduct research on topics related to photovoltaics (solar cells), fuel cells, combustion, biofuels creation and characterization, carbon sequestration, and others. The research spans the range from computational to wet chemistry to field research, all under the direct mentorship of faculty.
Bridge to the Doctorate Fellowship
The Bridge to the Doctorate Fellowship is a year-round research fellowship. Students work with a faculty advisor to complete their thesis research for the Ph.D. program.
Program Details:
- Application Deadline: Applications are accepted on a continuous basis
- Stipend: Determined upon acceptance
- Time Commitment: Determined by advisor
- Status: Must be U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Enrollment: Must be accepted into a Ph.D. program and be an alumnus from the CE&S program
Graduate Student Fellowship
The Graduate Student Fellowship is a year-round research fellowship. Students work with a faculty advisor to complete a thesis research project by the time they complete their graduate programs.
Program Details:
- Application Deadline: Applications are not currently being accepted for the 2011-2012 academic year.
- Stipend: $13,500-$17,500/year
- Time Commitment: 20 hours/week
- Supplies & Travel: Support for research supplies and travel
- Seminars: Enrollment in quarterly seminar courses is required
- Status: Must be U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
Undergraduate Student Volunteer
The Undergraduate Student Volunteer is a year-round research commitment. Students work with a faculty advisor to complete a research project by the time they complete their undergraduate programs.
Program Details
- Application Deadline: Applications are accepted on a continuous basis
- Time Commitment: 20 hours/week
- Supplies & Travel: Limited support for research supplies and travel
- Seminars: Enrollment in quarterly seminar courses is required
- Status: Must be U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
